Workspace structure and components

Sirius desktop environment contains several components: 3D molecular visualization component, sequence viewer and structure browser. In addition, a Molecular Dynamics Panel is available to visualize MD trajectories.

By default, Sirius loads with the Structure Viewer, and the other components may be added by selecting appropriate menu optins under Viewers menu. In addition, a Data Access panel can be loaded to search and retrieve data from Uniprot and Pubmed databases.

In addition to the help files, the Tutorials section gives a good general introduction to features of each of the components.

Structures can be loaded from local files (several major formats are currently supported), PDB database, or alternatively, they may be contructed using the Builder. When a file contains multiple structure entries (such as SDF or a PDB file with NMR structure models), a dialog is displayed listing all entries. Then individual entries can be selected for loading and are treated as separate structures.
