Editing the protein sequence

To begin, first make sure that the Editing mode has been selected. A check mark will indicate that the editing mode is active.


Editing option Explanation
Insert gapped column After selecting a column, choosing insert gapped column will insert a new column
Delete gapped column Removes a gapped column
Remove all gapped columns Removes all gapped columns in the structure
Remove all gaps Removes all gaps
Undo sequence change Sets the sequence back to its previous state

 


Once the sequence viewer is in the editing mode, right-clicking on a residue will bring up a popup menu with more specific editing options. These apply to individually selected residues and provide means for editing the alignment.

 

Popup edit command Explanation
Cut Remove selected sequence of consecutive residues or currently clicked residue and copy to the clipboard
Copy Copy selected consecutive residues or currently clicked residue to the clipboard
Paste Paste residues from the clipboard at the current mouse position
Insert gap Insert one gap at the current mouse position
Delete gap Remove the gap at the current mouse position. If it is a residue, nothing happens.
Change residue Replace the currently clicked residue with the selected one from the list
Delete residue Remove from the alignment the currently clicked residue
Undo last edit Revert to the last state of the display before the previous change.
